WEM Apple Store and Rogers iPhone Data Plans
Jun 27th, 2008 by Jon
Two items of note going into next week. The first one is that, after confirming with West Edmonton Mall staff, the Apple Store will not be open on July 1, due to construction. They expect it to be open within 2 to 4 weeks, so don’t line up too early.
Also, according to MacWorld, the price plans for Rogers have been released:
- $60 - 150 minutes, 400 MB data, 75 SMS (text messages)
- $75 - 300 minutes, 750 MB data, 100 SMS
- $100 - 600 minutes, 1 GB data, 200 SMS
- $115 - 800 minutes, 2 GB data, 300 SMS
- Note: All plans include Visual Voicemail, unlimited evening & weekends, unlimited access to Rogers & Fido Hotspots (think: Second Cup internet)
- Overage charges: 50¢/MB for first 60 MB, then 3¢/MB afterwards.
As of right now, Fido has not updated their packages, but I expect it to be more of the same. I like the fact that they throw in Hotspot access, which will help ease the tight data restrictions.
All things considered though, the price for Rogers is still fairly high, considering you have to add Rogers-to-Rogers, Call Display, 3-year contract…
Update: According to Justin, Fido’s Press Release basically says the exact same details as Rogers. So much for differentiation…
